Northwest Behavioral will move to Sunset Professional Building

By Ryan Wynne

When Mary Ann Boyle bought Northwest Behavioral Management five years ago, the counseling and case management services provider had four clinicians. Since then, it has expanded to eight clinicians and is in the process of bringing on two more, but the new additions won’t happen at the current location.

“We just don’t have enough space,” Boyle said. “The building here is cool and people really seem to like this particular space a lot, but we’re just busting at the seams right now.”

Northwest Behavioral currently rents seven of the 29 office spaces in the Ohio Street Workstudios building. Come December, though, Boyle hopes to be settled into a new office in the Sunset Professional Building at 3031 Orleans St. Suite 1, near Whatcom Educational Credit Union.

A major perk for Boyle is that Sunset Professional Building co-owner Matthew Yeh has worked with her to make the space what she wants – Northwest Behavioral will be the first tenant to inhabit the approximately 2,400-square-foot unit.

Boyle also likes that all of the offices will be housed in one building, making coordinating care easier, and that nine out of 10 of those offices will have windows. There is also plenty of parking, and, for multi-modal commuters, a bus line right out front and a trail system nearby.

While Northwest Behavioral will bring on a couple new clinicians, it will also leave one behind. Amy Glasser will continue working for Northwest Behavioral, but she will stay in her Ohio Street office.
