Northwest Tool Repair opened a new shop in Bellingham May 2 in the former home of Train-or-Tri at 2004 James St.
The company, which also has a shop in Alger, specializes in fixing industrial and home shop tools, from air compressors to nail guns to table saws, said Kris Coesens, who owns the business with his wife Christy.
Coesens has been repairing tools for 17 years and said he is excited to be expanding the family business. His grandfather started the business in 1971 and Coesens bought the business from his father four years ago.
Most of the space at the new, 2,500-square-foot store is devoted to repair stations, though there is a small retail area for hard-to-find parts, for people who prefer to fix their own tools but can’t find the right part.
“We didn’t really have a retail space before, and with Hardware Sales right next door, we don’t really need to sell tools,” Coesens said.
Between the two shops, Northwest Tool Repair has seven employees and offers pick-up and delivery of tools in Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish and Island counties. For more information, call the Bellingham store at (360) 676-8665.
