NSEA wins grant for work with students

The Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association (NSEA) won an educational grant in March that it’s using to support its Students for Salmon program.

The $1,900 grant was awarded to NSEA by the Captain Planet Foundation, an environmental organization for youth based on the Captain Planet cartoon.

“This grant funding is a wonderful opportunity for NSEA to continue to provide our Students for Salmon program at no cost, creating equal opportunity for all Whatcom County students, teachers and parents,” said Annitra Peck, NSEA’s program director, in a news release. “We are proud to foster this new relationship with the Captain Planet family.”

The Students for Salmon program is a 16-year-old program that teaches salmon and stream ecology to 3rd through 6th grade students in Whatcom County.
