The League of Women Voters of Bellingham/Whatcom County and the city of Bellingham are hosting a candidate forum for contested races in the 2nd Congressional District and the Public Utility District Position 2 Commissioner seat on Thursday, Oct. 11.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and attendees are asked to be seated prior to a 7 p.m. start time. The forum will be held in the Bellingham Municipal Court, 2014 C St. Audience questions will be encouraged.
The forum will be aired live, and then rebroadcast on BTV10 Comcast Channel 10 by the city of Bellingham. It will also be available on the city’s website at cob.org, and replayed on the radio stations KMRE-LP and KAVZ-LP.
The Bellingham Herald is a media partner for the event and Jayne Freudenberger, co-president of the League of Women Voters of Bellingham/Whatcom County, will moderate.
Initially, candidates for the 1st Congressional District seat were scheduled to appear, but Republican candidate John Koster declined an invitation, according to the league. Koster is running against Democratic candidate Suzan DelBene.
According to the league, the organization must follow rules and regulations set by the Federal Communications Commission for federal elections. FFC rules do not allow broadcast coverage of only one candidate.
