In time for the holidays, a local business network has opened an online auction where participants can bid on more than 100 items, services and other packages from local restaurants, organizations and retailers.
Bid Local First opened on Nov. 19. Its proceeds will benefit Sustainable Connections, a nonprofit which works to strengthen Whatcom County’s locally based economy, according to the organization’s website.
“The great thing about this auction is its focus on unique local experiences that you truly can’t find anywhere else,” said event coordinator Erin McCain-Anderson of Sustainable Connections, in a press release. “Bid Local First lets you do your holiday shopping from home, support your local economy and community of businesses.”
Bidding in the auction is open until Dec. 2.
Some of the items up for bid include multiple gift certificates to local restaurants and breweries, yoga lessons, landscaping services, as well as entries into Bellingham Traverse and the Bellingham Bay Marathon.
