Opportunity Council elects new board officers

The nonprofit Opportunity Council announced it has elected new officers on its board of directors.

The new officers include president, Mamie Lackie, Whatcom County Senior Deputy Public Defender; vice president, Judi Edwards, Bellingham Cold Storage; treasurer, Steve Jones, Umpqua Bank; secretary, Ramona Menish, Early Head Start Program Snohomish County; officer at large: Rick Hughes, San Juan County Commissioner; and past president: Stan Snapp, a community member.

Other board members include Jill Johnson, Island County Commissioner; Ken Mann, Whatcom County Council member; John Manning, community member; Lisa McShane, artist; Frank Parker, retired teacher; Sue Duncan, community member; Sandy John, ELAFS Policy Council Chairperson and Pinky Vargas, Bellingham City Council member.

Opportunity Council programs include housing, food resources, energy assistance, weatherization, early learning programs, child care resources and more.
