Opportunity Council holds "Golf FORE Good" tourney on Aug. 3

Opportunity Council, a Bellingham-based nonprofit that works to eliminate poverty, hosts its annual “Golf FORE Good” Tournament on Friday, Aug. 3, at Shuksan Golf Course.

The four-person scramble tournament begins with breakfast and registration at 7:30 a.m. and a shotgun start at 9 a.m. An awards banquet will be held at 4 p.m.

Golfers can also enter contests throughout the day in: holes-in-one, putting, longest drive and closest to the pin.

“It’s a great tournament with loads of prizes, but even more important, every dollar raised will help children who are disadvantaged or have special needs,” said tournament co-chair Sheldon Satterthwaite from The Unity Group Insurance, in a press release. “We’re very pleased this year to partner with more sponsors, golfers and raffle prize donors to support Opportunity Council’s early learning programs.”

New and returning business sponsors include: Pacific Continental Realty Realty, Shew Design, Windermere, Liberty Northwest, Wright Inspection Services, Boundary Bay Brewery & Bistro, Lithtex NW, Overhead Door Co., Special T Signs, Peoples Bank, Superfeet, Silver Reef Hotel Casino & Spa, IMCO, Exxcel Pacific, Puget Sound Energy, Regence, Peoples Bank, CAZ Energy, ConocoPhillips, Kelly’s O’Deli, NPIP, Dawson Construction, Building Performance Center and Community Energy Challenge.
