PeaceHealth St. Joseph Cancer Center ranked among top U.S. programs by cancer commission

The PeaceHealth St. Joseph Cancer Center has been ranked among the nation’s best accredited programs by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.

It is one of two cancer care programs in the northwestern U.S. to be recognized with an outstanding achievement award.

“Because cancer touches so many lives locally—from those with a cancer diagnosis as well their family, friends and co-workers—it is important to provide world-class right here,” Nancy Tieman, PeaceHealth St. Joseph’s vice president of strategy, innovation and development, said in a March 29 press release. “We are honored to have our outstanding program nationally recognized and remain committed to delivering survival outcomes that exceed the national average.”

The outstanding achievement award recognizes programs that provide quality care and demonstrate compliance with cancer program standards, according to the Commission on Cancer.

“We are proud of the outstanding care that we give our patients,” said Dana Cunningham, the medical center’s manager of oncology services. “That care comes from an incredibly dedicated and professional team working together to deliver effective, integrated care for each person for whom we are privileged to provide care.”
