The Adult Day Health Center at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center will host a talk by T. Christopher Portman, titled “Alcohol and Aging,” as part of the its lecture series, “Facing the Challenges of Aging.”
The presentation will be 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, at the center, 809 E. Chestnut St. in Bellingham. The talk is free and open to the public; however, due to space limitations RSVP (by phone at 360-788-6410) is required by Tuesday, Sept. 17.
Portman, a Bellingham-based private practice psychologist, specializes in the assessment and treatment of mental health and addiction, when they occur together.
He is also an addictions educator, and author of “The New Template for Recovery: How to Quit Drinking and Build a Better Life.”
The Adult Day Health Center provides nursing, therapeutic exercise and activities to support older adults and people with disabilities or long-term illness, and enable them to remain in their homes. The ADHC also provides a variety of caregiver support services including support groups, staff consultation and education. Through collaboration, the ADHC helps ensure that families who live with chronic illness or disability can access the help they need.
