Dodd joins Chuckanut builders
Chuckanut Builders hired Kendall Dodd as office manager and bookkeeper this fall.
Dodd founded The Hive, a community workshop and makerspace in Bellingham, and used to work as a youth development specialist and community educator at a nonprofit healthcare organization in Bellingham, according to a press release from Chuckanut Builders.
Chuckanut Builders specializes in custom home remodels, new homes and tenant improvement projects.

Fujita Joins Four Points Sheraton
Four Points by Sheraton Bellingham Hotel and Conference Center (formerly the Best Western Lakeway Inn) appointed Kanami Fujita to director of sales and marketing.
Fujita has 15 years of management experience in the hotel industry including work with hotels in Seattle and California, according to a news release from Four Points by Sheraton.
In her new role, Fujita will focus on finding associations, educational institutions and corporate clients for the hotel.

Bravo joins Metcalf Hodges
Kira Bravo recently joined Bellingham accounting firm Metcalf Hodges as an equity owner.
Bravo previously worked as a manager at Moss Adams in Bellingham and has more than a decade of public accounting experience. Her specialties include income tax planning and compliance, estate, trust and gift taxation.
Bravo works with students as a volunteer for Junior Achievement of Washington. She also volunteers as treasurer and serves on the investment and finance committee for the Whatcom Community Foundation.

Anglin joins Marriot as director of sales
Elisa Anglin recently joined Marriot as the director of sales for its Marriot SpringHill Suites and Marriot TownePlace. The hotels are next door to each other at 4040 Northwest Ave., in Bellingham.
Anglin, a Western Washington University graduate who has worked with Marriot for 12 years, said in an announcement from the company that she jumped at the opportunity to return to Bellingham.

Joy of Pilates hires two instructors
The Joy of Pilates, a fitness studio at 2130 Grant St., recently added two instructors to its team of 10.
Jaime Monsef returned to instructing at Joy of Pilates after spending a year in Astoria, Oregon. She is teaching private lessons, group classes and creative movement for kids.
Kate Hillmon also joined Joy of Pilates and will teach mat and reformer classes, private Pilates sessions and a suspension training class called TRX.

Vanderhage joins county library board of trustees
The Whatcom County Library System Board of Trustees appointed Gwen Vanderhage to the board.
She will complete outgoing board member Lis Marshall’s term, which runs through Jan. 31, 2017, according to an announcement from the library.
Vanderhage started in the industry as a page and clerk at the Bellingham Public Library in 1995. Since then, she has earned a master of library and information science degree from Simmons College in Boston. She is currently a collection development librarian for the Brodart Company, an international library products and services supplier.

Ferndale hires Renz as new public works director
The City of Ferndale hired Kevin Renz to direct its public works department. Renz spent the last 19 years working for Skagit County, most recently as the county’s solid waste division manager, according to an announcement on the city’s website.
Renz will oversee a department of 28 employees responsible for maintaining and improving public infrastructure including roads, parks, water systems and public buildings.
Ferndale city administrator Greg Young has served as interim director for the department since March 2015.

Coldwell Banker Bain adds one to Bellingham office
Coldwell Banker Bain, a national real estate franchise, recently hired Ashley Honeycutt at its Bellingham office.
The office is at 3610 Meridian St.
