POS-X expands amid lagging retail industry

By Isaac Bonnell

POS-X, a point-of-sale machine manufacturer, will be moving its U.S. headquarters in July from 2130 Grant St. to a larger location at 1975 Midway Lane Suite M-O.

At 5,000 square feet, the new space will be twice as large as their current space, said company vice president Karl Schoessler.

“It’s giving us more room to expand and grow our company,” Schoessler said. “We’ve exceeded our maximum capacity where we are now.”

The point-of-sale manufacturing industry has been significantly affected by the recession because fewer new businesses are opening and existing businesses have less money to spend on upgrading their equipment, Schoessler said. Despite that, POS-X just posted its best month ever, thanks in part to a new, less-expensive product line.

The company is also smaller than most others in the industry, making it easier to adapt to changing market conditions, Schoessler said.
