Prepare for holiday customer surge with free workshop by national retail expert

Retail business expert Robert Spector will present at a free customer service workshop from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at the Pickford Film Center in downtown Bellingham.

Through his consulting firm, Robert Spector Inc., Spector has worked on customer service with businesses large and small, including J.D. Power and Associates, The Edward Jones Company, and Pfizer Pharmaceutical Group, according to his LinkedIn page.

“I grew up working in my own family’s small business, Spector’s Meat Market, and that instilled in me a passion for small independent businesses,” Spector said in a press release from the Downtown Bellingham Partnership, a partner in the event. “In preparation for this holiday season I want to bring what I’ve learned to every small local independent business, to help them thrive.

Locally, Spector has worked with Village Books in Fairhaven, according to the press release. Spector lives in Bellingham and is nationally known for his book “The Nordstrom Way to Customer Service Excellence,” and other books.

The workshop is part of the Downtown Bellingham Partnerships effort to support downtown retailers this holiday season.

“We want to provide resources and tools to help our local businesses have their best season yet,” said Downtown Bellingham Partnership marketing director Kyle Fuller.

The workshop will also include a presentation by Zac Palmer, director of business operations at Fitness Gear and Training, and a half-hour question-and-answer session.

The Black Drop Coffeehouse will provide coffee and pastries. For more information, go to www.downtownbellingham.com/robertspector.
