Primary-care doctor opens clinic in downtown Bellingham

An adult internal medicine physician has opened a new clinic in downtown Bellingham at 1211 Cornwall Ave., across the street for The Leopold Retirement Residence.

Dr. Mae Lary plans to soon add a rejuvenation and weight-loss specialty to her clinic, which is currently accepting new patients.

Lary grew up in Tampa, Fla., and completed her medical education and internal medicine residency at the University of South Florida School of Medicine, now known Morsani College of Medicine. She completed a fellowship in the hematology/oncology department at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Swedish Hospital and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, all in Seattle.

From 1995 through 2012, Lary practiced hematology/oncology and internal medicine in southern Illinois. She held an assistant professor position at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine on its Carbondale, Ill., campus. She was also affiliated with the hematology/oncology department at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Mo., and at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, also in St. Louis, as an instructor.
