Shane Vander Giessen, a lifelong Whatcom County resident, has opened a branch of ProStar Insurance in Bellingham.
ProStar is an independent insurance brokerage that works with companies such as Safeco, Travelers, MetLife, Progressive, The Hartford, Liberty
Northwest and CNA. The firm now has 10 offices in western Washington. It specializes in personal lines—including auto and home coverage—as well as life insurance and business insurance.
“By being an independent agency, we can choose from many different products and find the one that is best for our clients,” Vander Giessen said, in a press release.
Vander Giessen has been in the insurance industry for three years after graduating from the University of Washington with a bachelor’s in business administration. He is a board member of the Whatcom Family YMCA, a drummer on the praise team at Sonlight Community Christian Reformed Church in Lynden and a member of the Bellingham Mountain Rescue Council.
