The Whatcom Parks and Recreation Foundation will host an informational meeting about the Nooksack Loop Trail from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, at the Squalicum Boathouse in Zuanich Point Park, 2600 Harbor Loop in Bellingham.
The meeting will cover the foundation’s past three years of research and visioning on the project that aims to establish 45 miles of multi-modal trails throughout the heart of Whatcom County.
The Nooksack Loop Trail concept is comprised of four trail segments that have been in Whatcom County’s park plans since the 1970s. The proposed trail route intends to connect the cities of Bellingham, Ferndale, Lynden and Everson, as well as various parks throughout the county.
Topics presented at the meeting will include the committee’s overall vision, routing discussion and the committee’s long-range action plan for moving the effort forward. Presentations will be given by members of the Nooksack Loop Trail Committee, representatives from each of the four cities involved and the Whatcom County Parks Department.
