Aaron Fairchild, Chairman and CEO of Green Canopy Homes, will be the featured speaker at the second session of Sustainable Connection’s speaker series. The event runs from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on July 31 at the Squalicum Boathouse in Bellingham, and will also include a panel discussion with local business professionals.
Since 2010, Fairchild and Green Canopy Homes have been rebuilding Seattle homes with green materials to make them more energy efficient. That typically includes upgrading insulation, windows, plumbing and electrical fixtures, and sometimes solar panels.
The speaker series focuses on the concept of triple bottom line business practices, which refers to business owners considering not only profit, but also how their business affects people and the planet. Fairchild will discuss how his team incorporates triple bottom line theory in their work, according to a news release.
The panel discussion following Fairchild will include local business professionals from Q Laundry, Alcoa Intalco Works, Ragfinery, and Scratch and Peck Feeds.
Tickets for the event are $45 for the general public until July 15, and then they go up to $55.
The third and final session in the series takes place on October 16 and features Vincent Stanley, vice president of marketing at Patagonia.
