Real-estate investor group changes name, moves meetings

A Bellingham-based nonprofit real-estate group is changing its name and moving its monthly meeting venue.

Starting February, the Bellingham Real Estate Investor Network will be known as BellREIA (pronounced BELL-REE-AH), an acronym for Bellingham Real Estate Investors Association. The group will also begin regularly at the Atlantis Room in the Quality Inn on Meridian Street, moving its meetings from the offices of the Building Industry Association of Whatcom County.

“While we’ve enjoyed the building and atmosphere the BIAWC very much,” said Kevin Hall, the group’s president, in a press release. “We felt that moving our monthly meetings to Meridian Street would help with our attendance and give the group a fresh start going into 2013 under the new name.”

The organization has been operating as a nonprofit real estate club since June 2006, offering education and networking opportunities for anyone with an interest in investing, or companies and individuals involved in auxiliary industries such as lenders and contractors.

Hall said the changes will not impact on current members’ connections with the group, and they will continue to receive free entry to meetings and local and national vendor discounts.

Meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of each month, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.
