Regional mental health coalition to host workplace diversity event

The North Sound Mental Health Administration’s Dignity and Respect Campaign is hosting a regional conference, titled “Celebrating Workplace Diversity,” from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, at McIntyre Hall, 2501 E. College Way in Mount Vernon.

The conference’s keynote speaker is Louis Gong, a Canadian artist, activist and educator who was raised by his grandparents in the Nooksack trial community. Gong will share his experience and ideas concerning identity.

Additional featured guests include: Greg Winter, director of the Whatcom Homeless Service Center at the Opportunity Council in Bellingham and chair of the Whatcom County Coalton to End Homelessness; Shawn Postera of the Dignity and Respect in Oregon’s Multnomah County; and Mike Hudson of the Association of Washington Business, who will moderate an employer panel on workplace diversity.
