Out of retirement, back to auto repair

The Bellingham Business Journal

Jack Hansen, former owner of Northwest Collision, came out of early retirement to open Meridian Collision at the site of his former business at 2529 Meridian St. The new business opened May 3.

Hansen, who has been in the auto body repair business since the age of 14, decided to retire at the age of 54 and sold Northwest Collision in 2007. Then, in November 2009, the new owners filed for bankruptcy and Hansen took that opportunity to get back in the game.

“I didn’t expect to come out of retirement so soon,” Hansen said. “But under the circumstances, we are excited to start back up again and get back to business.”

Meridian Collision is a local, family‐owned business and the Hansen family has been repairing vehicles since the 1960s in the same location. Hansen’s former employees, including his brother, will return to work at the new shop.

Meridian Collision is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, visit www.meridiancollisionbellingham.com or call (360) 733‐5678.
