The Washington State Department of Revenue will host a free online seminar on Wednesday, March 12, for new and small-business owners.

Participants will learn about Washington state’s excise taxes, reporting classifications, deductions, sales-tax collection and record-keeping requirements. They will also have a chance to ask specific questions related to their businesses.

The registration deadline is Friday, Feb. 28. To register, visit www.dor.wa.gov/webinar.

It is the first time the revenue department has offered a Web-based seminar to businesses in Washington. Carol K. Nelson, the department’s director, said doing so should make it easier for business owners to fit the workshop into their schedules.
