Rock the Bulb tour allows Puget Sound Energy users to swap out old lightbulbs

Puget Sound Energy gives Whatcom County residents a chance to exchange old light bulbs for more energy-efficient ones from noon to 6 p.m. on July 20-21 at the Lynden Ace Hardware store, 1736 Front St.

As part of the energy company’s “Rock the Bulb” tour, the event allows PSE customers to swap up to 15 incandescent light bulbs for the same number of free compact fluorescent ones.

The fluorescent bulbs use up to 78 percent less energy than the older incandescent bulbs, and they can have a lifespan up to 10 times longer, according to PSE.

“We are excited to bring Rock the Bulb: The Re-Energize Tour 2012 to customers who are ready to save energy and money by switching to CFL bulbs,” said Brian Gentry, PSE’s local government and community relations manager, in a press release. “We have many ways for customers to save energy and money beyond CFL bulbs and we can’t wait to share the information.”
