Rover Stay Over plans April 14 open house to celebrate anniversary, new cat and dog grooming salon

Rover Stay Over, the Lynden-based boarding kennel and doggie daycare facility, is holding open house to celebrate its one-year anniversary and the grand opening of its new grooming salon from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 14.

“Whatcom County dog lovers have been so supportive of our startup business; we quickly had to add new kennel spaces and larger outdoor play areas,” Rover manager Sydney Scheffer, said in a press release.

Attendees to the open house can tour the facility and enter raffle drawings for free kennel stays and grooming services.

The new salon will offer services for dogs and cats including bathing, brushing, nail trimming, ear cleaning, haircuts, de-shedding and flea baths. While the facility currently only offers boarding and daycare for dogs, plans are in the works to add cat boarding in the near future.

In the year since the facility, located at 6451 Hannegan Road, first opened, it has more than doubled in size.

Rover Stay Over won Bellingham Business Journal 2012 Reader’s Choice Awards for best new business and best sign or logo.

Store managers surveyed customers last fall to ask what products or services they would like to see offered at the kennel. The number one request was for onsite grooming. Staff at the facility are partnering with veterinary assistant and certified dog and cat groomer Katie Hall to provide the new services.

“It was always our dream to bring professional grooming services to Rover Stay Over,” Scheffer said. “We are thrilled to have been able to expand further at this point and look forward to what will come next.”
