Saturna Capital re-ups as Mount Baker Theatre's season sponsor

The Mount Baker Theatre announced Bellingham-based Saturna Capital will sponsor its upcoming 2012-2013 season.

The 21-show season begins on July 14 with Lyle Lovett and continues with Mount Baker Theatre’s own production of “My Fair Lady” on September 26-30.

The season ends on June 7, 2013 with Three Dog Night

Saturna’s history of support for the Mount Baker Theatre dates back to the early 1990s and includes significant contributions to the theater’s renovation capital campaign and various concert sponsorships. Saturna sponsored the Broadway Series during both the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 seasons and sponsored the entire season the last two years.

“The Mount Baker Theatre ignites the imagination of audiences of all ages by providing some of the best local and national performing artists in the North Puget Sound region,” said Jane Carten, director and president of Saturna, in a press release. “We are proud to support such a historic landmark and cultural anchor in the heart of downtown Bellingham.”

Carten is also on theatre’s board of directors.

“We view Saturna’s season sponsorship as a significant leadership contribution to the theater’s development,” said Brad Burdick, executive director of the Mount Baker Theatre. “Ticket sales cover only about half of our expenses, with the other half coming primarily from grants and private donations. Saturna’s commitment at the season level has motivated others to step up and sponsor shows.”
