Advance-care planning workshops set for January

The Whatcom Alliance for Health Advancement has released the January lineup of its free advance-care planning workshops.

Participants can learn why advance-care planning is important for all adults, how to choose someone to act as a durable power of attorney for health care, how to talk to loved ones and doctors about preferences for end-of-life care, and how to complete advance directive paperwork.

Workshop schedule

– Wednesday, Jan. 16; 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; St. Luke’s Health Education Center at St. Joseph Medical Center, 3333 Squalicum Parkway (east of the main campus).

– Wednesday, Jan. 16; 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.; Spring Creek Retirement & Assisted Living (in the Activity Lounge), 223 E. Bakerview Road (just east of Guide Meridian).

– Thursday, Jan. 17; 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.; Lynden Library, 216 4th Street.

– Wednesday, Jan. 23; 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Spring Creek Retirement & Assisted Living (in the Activity Lounge), 223 E. Bakerview Road (just east of Guide Meridian).
