Three Whatcom County Granges and the Washington State Grange have provided scholarships for several high school graduates as well as a Lummi Island primary school.
The Whatcom County Laurel Grange awarded scholarships to Diana Horgen and Colin Aamott. Horgan also received a scholarship from the Rome Grange along with Maria Cress, Maija Haggith and Christine Cadman. Haggith also received the four-year Delpha Goude scholarship from the Washington State Grange.
The Lummi Island Grange presented a $1,000 scholarship to the historic K-6 Beach school, which has experienced significant budget cuts for the coming school year.
Lummi Island is also proud to report that Tad Downey is one of seven recipients of the Ray and Marion Kamerrer scholarship from the Washington State Grange.
