Semiahmoo Resort hires Canadian sales manager

Semiahmoo Resort hired Danny Lidder as Canadian sales manager.

Lidder will market the resort to British Columbia residents as a place to vacation or hold meetings, conventions and weddings. The resort, on Semiahmoo Spit in Blaine, is about seven miles by road from Canada.

“Danny brings to Semiahmoo Resort a wealth of experience in the world of sales and hotel operations,” said Mark Andrew, general manager of Semiahmoo Resort. “Having spent many years working in the front office and other aspects of hotel operation and then spending the last several years working in sales for both Hilton and Fairmont in Vancouver, B.C., he is the perfect person to represent our unique offerings in the Canadian marketplace.”

The position is new for Semiahmoo and is a response to the strong Canadian market, which Andrew said is “incredibly important” to the resort. Lidder and Andrew both live in the greater Vancouver area.

Lidder has more than fifteen years of hospitality experience, including three and a half years as front office manager and sales manager for the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown Hotel. He assisted in a hotel renovation and was the key liaison for group business in the hotel during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games, according to the news release. Most recently, Lidder spent three and a half years with Fairmont Hotels and Resorts in Vancouver, B.C. as their executive meeting manager.

“I look forward to working at Semiahmoo and introducing this beautiful property to international travelers and corporations whom are seeking the type of unique offerings that this property can provide,” said Lidder. “I am very grateful for the opportunity to work with an amazing team at Semiahmoo Resort and I can’t wait to get started.”
