"Shift Change" film looks at employee-owned businesses

Sustainable Connections and the Community Food Co-op will co-sponsor a screening of the film “Shift Change,” at the Pickford Film Center on Nov. 3.

The documentary, produced by the award-winning filmmakers Melissa Young and Mark Dworkin, showcases employee-owned businesses that compete successfully in today’s economy.

“We need to continue to find new solutions to foster local business and continue to grow a healthier more sustainable economy,” said Michelle Grandy, the Think Local First manager for Sustainable Connections, in a press release. “This film examines employee ownership as one solution that’s proving to be successful.”

The film starts at 4 p.m. at the Pickford, which is located 1318 Bay St. in downtown Bellingham.

The show costs $9.50 for adults, and $7 for Pickford members.
