The Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber of Commerce and Industry has announced the Herman family, founders of Woods Coffee, will be the grand marshal for the 2012 Ski to Sea Grand Parade.
The annual parade will take place at noon on Saturday, May 26, in downtown Bellingham.
The longtime residents of Whatcom County founded their chain of coffee shops in 2002. There are now 12 Woods Coffee locations.
“Whatcom Blossoms” will be the theme for this year’s parade.
Parade chair Maria Dahl said the theme was chosen to represent recent progress in the local economy.
Registration for the parade is now open. More information is online at www.bellingham.com.
“The committee really hopes to increase the number of floats this year,” Sheila Connors, the chamber’s marketing and events director, said in an April 17 press release. “We are encouraging all clubs, associations, schools, businesses and communities to enter the parade. Building a float is actually quite a fun project for schools, businesses and other groups. Previous float organizers have told me it was a wonderful experience creating a float for the parade.”
