St. Paul's Academy names new school head

Lily Driskill has been named the new head of St. Paul’s Academy, an independent Bellingham grade school.

Driskill joins St. Paul’s after spending six years as an assistant headmaster and dean at the Iolani college prep school in Honolulu, Hawaii.

She previously served as principal at both the American Creativity Academy in Kuwait City, Kuwait, and the American International School in Nicosia, Cyprus.

St. Paul’s Academy is an coeducational day school with about 250 students. It is accredited by the Northwest Accreditation Commission and the Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools, according to the academy’s website.

In addition to her leadership experience, Driskill has taught and held administrative positions at Annie Wright School in Tacoma, and Saint George’s School in Spokane.

She succeeds Stephanie Sadler, who is retiring in July after spending nine years at St. Paul’s.

Driskill holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Lehigh University, a master’s degree in education from Harvard University, and a bachelor’s from Western Oregon University. She plans to move to Bellingham this summer with her husband Jim Bango, a retired mental health therapist.
