Saturna Capital Corporation, announced the promotion of three employees and an addition of a copywriter and financial editor to its staff of 45.
Chris Lang was promoted to international accounting manager for Saturna Capital while also serving as assistant vice president of Saturna Brokerage Services, a subsidiary of Saturna Capital. He is responsible for development of accounting and trading policy for foreign equity investments, supervision of daily accounting for foreign equity holdings, and filing regulatory reports for the Sextant and Amana mutual funds.
He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a finance concentration from Western Washington University and joined Saturna Capital in 2005. Lang is a 2009 Level II CFA® candidate.
Melanie Merz was promoted to manager of brokerage operations and fund asset transfer administrator. She oversees the daily operations of Saturna Brokerage portfolio trading for institutional accounts, bank transfers and the movement of assets between mutual fund and client bank accounts. Merz received her bachelor’s degree in history and international studies from Oberlin College and joined Saturna Capital in 2007.
Jacob Stewart was promoted to legal/compliance clerk. His responsibilities include the preparation and review of compliance documents, fund filings and reports, as well as researching foreign entities, industry rules and regulations. Originally from Texas, Stewart joined Saturna Capital in 2007.
Shannon Skinner joined Saturna Capital as copywriter/financial editor in June 2009. She will compose and edit marketing communications material, including press releases, financial reports, newsletters and website content. She most recently held the position of office manager at a Ferndale, Wash., logistics and business services provider.
Skinner received her bachelor’s degree in communication arts from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a master’s degree in business administration from Western Washington University.
