State Supreme Court justice to speak at April 21 League of Women Voters forum

Washington State Supreme Court Justice Steven Gonzalez will speak on “Access and Justice for All: The importance of fair and impartial courts and the role of diversity in enhancing our legal system,” at the League of Women Voters of Bellingham/Whatcom County judicial forum on April 21.

The free forum will be from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Northwood Hall, 3240 Northwest Ave. in Bellingham. It includes a complimentary lunch buffet.

Following his address, Gonzalez will be joined by three other judges, King County Superior Court Judge Deborah Fleck, Whatcom Superior Court Judge Charles Snyder and Raquel Montoya–Lewis, Western Washington University professor and chief judge of the Nooksack Tribe, for a panel discussion on the importance of diversity to access, fairness and justice in the U.S. judicial system.

The discussion will be moderated by pro-tem tribal judge mediator Robbi Ferron and a member of the League of Women Voters.
