Stecher earns NAR Green Designation

The Bellingham Business Journal

Susan Stecher of RE/MAX Whatcom County recently earned the National Associaton of Realtors (NAR) Green Designation, certifying a real estate agent’s commitment to a more sustainable environment.

The Green Designation from the National Association of Realtors required Stecher to complete coursework and pass tests on green building principles. Stecher said the training will help her guide buyers who are seeking properties with green materials, energy-efficient technology and sustainable design. She also is knowledgeable in green ratings and incentives that may affect a buyer’s decision.

Fewer than 100 agents in Washington have earned the NAR Green Designation.

“It’s important to be able to distinguish between properties that fit well in a sustainable environment and those that are ‘greenwashing’ – falsely claiming to be green,” Stecher said. “The GREEN designation training and updates will enable my clients to make informed decisions.”

Stecher has more than 25 years of experience in real estate, marketing, investing and financial planning. She also has completed continuing education classes to earn designations in numerous areas of real estate, including luxury homes, staging homes, short sales and negotiations.
