Superfeet Worldwide, a manufacturer of supportive insoles, started the work week in its newly constructed, custom-designed facility at 1820 Scout Place in Ferndale that houses the company’s production, shipping and administrative departments.
The company has operated from three separate buildings in Ferndale since 2005, but recent hires have pushed the capacity of the old facility. Uniting everyone under one roof will help improve communication and provide space for future growth, said Randy Curran, vice president of marketing.
“Our new building reflects Superfeet’s historical achievements, but even more importantly, it creates a wonderful atmosphere for our next generation of company leaders to continue growing our business with our core values in mind,” Curran said in a press release.
Superfeet bought 5.92 acres one mile north of their current location at 1419 Whitehorn St. in August 2008, but delayed construction due to the looming recession. As the company continued to grow steadily throughout 2009, construction on the new facility was approved to begin in March 2010. The new facility features water-saving and energy-conserving appliances, motion sensor lights, and an energy-efficient heating/cooling system.
