Technology Alliance Group for Northwest Washington will celebrate 25 years of the internet and give awards to local technology influencers on Friday, Dec.5 at Bellingham Technical College.
A luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. will include a review of the last 25 years of the internet and look forward to the future in a panel discussion. Tech influencers in two categories will receive awards.
The first category is for individuals less than 25 years old who have made a significant impact on science, technology, mathematics and engineering in our community. The second is for an individual who has impacted community development in science, technology, engineering and math or the local economy.
Congresswoman Suzan DelBene will speak about access to technology in schools, net neutrality, and the internet’s impacts on the economy.
Here are the finalists for the tech influencer awards:
Young influencers: Sehome High School students Catie Wang and Zach Larson, Jon Bash from Western Washington University’s Department of Music, and Ferndale High School student Cody Bary.
Influencers: Andrea Frost, Kelly Lyon, Becky Raney, Ben Kinney, Bob Pritchett, David Patrick, Gary Clueit, Gil Lund, Jason Lindquist, Kyle Rader and Ray Poorman.
