Catholic Housing Services, which operates apartment buildings for homeless and low-income residents, has proposed construction of a new 42-unit housing complex at 1100 Cornwall Ave. in downtown Bellingham.
The organization held a public meeting on Aug. 21, allowing locals to ask questions about the project.
Proponents have said the proposed project would provide homeless and low-income people with stable housing, while critics have brought concerns of potential negative impacts to local businesses, including loitering and possible illegal activity.
