Bellingham’s pinball players have a new place to swing flippers at a steel ball now that The Racket, a bar and pinball lounge at 1220 N. State St., is open.
The two-story space has a bar on the first floor and a pinball lounge on the second.
The Racket is owned by Hollie Huthman and Marty Watson, who also own The Shakedown, a music venue next door to The Racket. The two spaces are connected by a doorway.
Huthman and Watson planned The Racket as a “side bar” to The Shakedown. It’s a quiet place to go to escape the noise of live music, Huthman said in an interview last year. A lot of venues, including The Crocodile and Neumos in Seattle, have side bars.
The Racket is open daily from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., and has a full bar and serves cheesesteaks and falafels, according to its Facebook page.
