Turkey donations spur Bellingham Food Bank's Thanksgiving drive

With 1,000 donated turkeys, Ram Construction and Bellingham Bay Rotary have teamed up to help the Bellingham Food Bank prepare for what could be its busiest Thanksgiving ever.

Food Bank directors are determined to provide a turkey to every family in need that visits before the holiday.

Ram Construction donated 500 birds, then challenged Bellingham Bay Rotary to make a matching contribution, which it did.

“Ram and Bellingham Bay Rotary are so inspiring,” said Mike Cohen, executive director of the Bellingham Food Bank, in a press release. “One in six Bellingham families regularly visit our food bank. October 2012 was our busiest month ever, and we expect to have at least 1,500 families visit the week of Thanksgiving.”

Bellingham Food Bank is still accepting donated turkeys between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
