North Sound Family Medicine and Interfaith Community Health Centers in Bellingham and Ferndale have been recognized for outstanding achievements by the Whatcom County Health Department.
Both health centers received awards during an April banquet sponsored by Sanofi Pasteur, a global company that provides more than one billion doses of vaccine each year, according to its website.
North Sound Family Medicine received an award for its “Exemplary Vaccine for Children Immunization Program.” The clinic maintained an outstanding vaccine management program, including vaccine storage and handling practices.
The Interfaith Community Health Centers received awards for their “Exceptional Commitment to Providing Tdap Vaccine to Under-served Adults.” The combined efforts of the two Interfaith Community Health Centers resulted in the administration of nearly 1,000 doses of pertussis vaccine provided by Sanofi Pasteur free of charge.
According to county health officials, this effort helped protect infants from pertussis, a highly contagious respiratory infection that can be fatal.
