When The Hub Community Bike Cooperative opened its doors at 903 1/2 North State Street in 2002, it was a self-supported cooperative run by an experienced, all-volunteer staff.

Now some of the bike shop’s staff is paid, but it also continues to rely on the efforts of bike-loving volunteers and bike donations to keep Bellingham bikes in motion.

The Hub, a non-profit organization, uses recycled and utilitarian bicycles to build bikes for customers. It offers full-service tune-ups and repairs and sells bicycle parts. Community members can also rent a fully outfitted, self-service work space for $5 per hour for non-members.
