Volunteers sought for county transportation group

Whatcom County Executive Jack Louws is seeking citizen volunteers for appointment to  the Whatcom County Citizens’ Transportation Advisory Group, which facilitates ongoing citizen participation in support of the Whatcom Metropolitan Planning Area Transportation planning process.

It also serves as the Citizens’ Advisory Panel for  the Whatcom Transportation Authority.

This advisory group consists of nine voting members, three of whom shall be appointed  by the Whatcom County Executive in accordance with the bylaws.

Louws is seeking to fill these three positions as follows:

-All applicants must be residents of unincorporated areas of the county and shall have an interest in transportation planning issues.

– CTAG meets monthly and these three appointed members  will serve a four year initial term, following appointment procedures set out in the  Whatcom County Code.

-Elected Officials representing any portion of Whatcom County, or their staff members, as well as employees of any entity with membership in the  Whatcom Transportation Policy Board may not serve on CTAG.
