Janice Walker has been promoted to serve as director of Whatcom Community College’s Workforce Education program.
Walker, who joined the college in 2010 as Workforce Education program coordinator, has a master’s degree in adult education administration from Western Washington University.
Prior to her posts at Whatcom, she was senior director of events and global services at Bellingham-based SPIE.
As director, Walker will collaborate with program leaders, create strategies for innovation and growth, secure and manage grants and connect with local businesses to ensure Whatcom’s programs remain relevant to the needs of the community.
The college has more than 40 professional technical programs.
Students may earn associate degrees, certificates and short-term certificates of proficiency in business, graphic design, education, health care, law and justice and technology.
