The Washington Reading Corps needs people 17 and older to teach elementary school children to read.
The Washington Reading Corps, part of the Washington Service Corps under the federal AmeriCorps umbrella, has positions open at schools in Bellingham and Ferndale, as well as Anacortes, Port Angeles, Silverdale, Bremerton, Tacoma, Manson, Winthrop, and Wishram.
Applicants must contact the service corps by Sept. 26.
Washington Service Corps members must commit to 10 and a half months of community service. They’re compensated with a modest living allowance, health insurance, training, and an educational scholarship. Members with children can also receive help with childcare.
