WCC awarded grant to develop healthcare programs

The Washington State Board for Technical and Community Colleges awarded Whatcom Community College with a $567,500 grant to develop healthcare training programs.

The Hospital Employee Education and Training (HEET) grant’s goal is to develop programs to prepare future healthcare workers for changing patient needs and new requirements in the Affordable Care Act.

WCC will develop courses and certificates for emerging healthcare positions, such as patient navigators. Patient navigators are advocates who guide patients and their families through the medical system.
