WCC wins award for technology use

An education software company recognized Whatcom Community College as a leader in using technology in education for the second year in a row.

Whatcom Community College received the Excellence in Student Success Award from Hobsons Education Solutions Company during the 2015 Hobsons University conference in July in San Antonio.

Whatcom Community College uses two Hobsons programs, Starfish Degree Planner and Retain. The technology has allowed Whatcom to eliminate paper forms, streamline the degree planning process, make advising appointments more effective and provide support to at-risk students through early alerts and targeted communications, according to Hobsons’ website.

The education software company also recognized two other schools for using Hobsons technology: Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusettes, and the University of Arkansas, in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
