Wedding, event rental company opening June 11

When Rachel Andrews and Alex Howard planned their own wedding in 2009, they found options for wedding rental items in Bellingham were limited. That realization prompted the couple to open their own event rental company.

Rachel, a Western Washington University graduate, and Alex, a Bellingham Technical College graduate, will hold a grand opening for Bellingham Wedding and Event Rentals from 5 p.m to 8 p.m. on Friday June 11, at 4151 Meridian St. Suite 119.

“After settling for limited selection and outdated products for our special day, we looked and each other and decided Bellingham needs a choice,” Rachel said.

They decided to save money, cash out investments, and borrow funds from family to build a rental store together.

“The economy may be down now, but people will always celebrate life with their friends and family, in whatever way they can,” Rachel said. “We want to make it easy and affordable for them to create those memorable events.”

The store will cater to do-it-yourself brides and provide trendy wedding decor items and free personalized design consultations. The showroom, located in Cordata Shopping Place, includes an interactive design corner where clients can choose from a variety of linens, china, centerpieces, and decor to design their own event tables. It will also offer all the basics for any party or event.
