Chris Weitzel and Sheila Walls, Realtors with RE/MAX Whatcom County, dropped off more than 75 bags of donated clothing to the Lighthouse Mission and Agape Home on Dec. 21 as a result of their holiday clothing drive. Items included new and gently used clothing along with everyday essentials such as socks, undergarments and diapers to support local men, women, and children in Whatcom County.
Weitzel and Walls began organizing the clothing drive in late November and set out to find other parties that would be interested in supporting their cause. Lori Reece, owner of RE/MAX Whatcom County and Dave Wareing, general manager of the Sudden Valley Community Association joined in the effort, turning what was once a small idea into a countywide event with drop off locations at all Whatcom County RE/MAX offices as well as the Sudden Valley administration office and recreation center.
“The response and generosity of our friends, clients, and community has been truly inspiring,” Weitzel said in a press release.
The clothing drive deadline is January 31. For more information, contact Chris Weitzel at (360) 312-5151 or visit www.thelighthousemission.org.
