Local solar system installers Western Solar tripled its office and warehouse space in early April when it moved to a new location at 4041 Home Road, near Interstate 5 at Northwest Avenue.
The new 6,000-square-foot facility has private offices for all office staff with room to grow, and showroom and conference spaces for hosting classes and workshops. Western Solar will also be installing an electric vehicle charging station that customers can use for free.
The company has more than doubled the amount of installations it performs since 2012 and plans to hire six more installers and electricians in the coming year, said Trish Haveman, Western Solar’s marketing director.
Even before hiring, the company’s old office was out of space, Haveman said.
“We didn’t have enough warehouse space and it had tight quarters as far as office space,” Haveman said. “The big thing was we didn’t have any parking.”
Western Solar only had on-street parking at its old location, which was downtown at 319 E. Champion St. The company didn’t benefit much from the downtown location since they don’t get much walk-in traffic, Haveman said.
