Western students receive Society of Professional Journalists honors

Journalism students at Western Washington University received seven excellence awards from the Society of Professional Journalists for their work on three student-produced publications: The Western Front, Klipsun magazine, and The Planet. The Western Front, the student newspaper, won a finalist award for Best All-Around Non-Daily Student Newspaper. The environmental magazine Planet, was named a finalist for Best Student Magazine, and the radio show Planet Radio won a Mark of Excellence for Best All-Around Radio Newscast.

Sarah Sharp was a finalist for the Newspaper Feature Writing category.

Katelyn Doggett and Elise Dresel were finalists in the Nonfiction Magazine Article category. Sam Carlos won a Mark of Excellence for a radio feature.
