Whatcom Community College’s Community and Continuing Education program is offering the seven-session class titled “Spanish for Health Care Professionals in a Clinical Setting,” starting Jan. 27.
The introductory course will help practitioners make a personal connection with patients and their families, question patients about symptoms and health histories, conduct physical examinations, gather and convey basic information, inform about basic procedures, give follow-up instructions and more, according to the college.
Instructor Shirley King, Ph.D., has served as a clinical interpreter and has extensive multicultural experience.
All classes are held on WCC ‘s campus in Kulshan Hall 224. Classes are schedules from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. from Jan. 27 to March 17 (class will not meet Feb. 17). A textbook is included in the $119 course fee.
