The Whatcom Community Foundation has issued a request for grant proposals from local nonprofit organizations.
The foundation, with a mission to enhance philanthropy in Whatcom County, is asking nonprofits to submit grant applications online at www.whatcomcf.org by Jan. 28. Last year, the organization funded 29 projects with $163,000.
Annual funding is made possible by community donations, the foundation’s Fund for Whatcom County and other endowed funds established to address emerging needs and opportunities, according to the organization.
“We believe that giving here matters,” said Mauri Ingram, president and CEO of the Whatcom Community Foundation, in a press release. “This is one of the most exciting times at the foundation each year. It’s our opportunity to ask the local nonprofit community how we can best invest in their work and strengthen the community.”
Nonprofit directors can review the foundation’s mission, grant principles and policies on the “how to apply” section of its website. Awards will be announced by early May.
